The education of most homeschool children started up in earnest after Labor Day - some started earlier. We all know the basics - teach reading, writing, and arithmetic, but what does that look like? How do you set up your homeschool so that your children learn their best and that they have the most effective learning experience possible? In fact, what do successful homeschoolers do to ensure that they are both effective and prepared to train their children? How do you set up a homeschool?
Exploring Homeschooling™ Orange County has the answer you've been looking for! Arleen Morris will speak about how to organize your homeschool so that your homeschool is the most effective for you and your children. Since all homeschools are a bit different, owing this to the uniqueness of parents and children, you will learn a number of organizational skills that are sure to help you ensure smooth operation of your homeschool. She'll cover important topics such as:
- How to set up your day so your children will have time to learn and time to play.
- How to organize learning materials (books, supplies) for easy use and quick take-out and storage.
- Keeping discipline in your home school
- Taming the paperwork monster - making sure that paperwork is done but doesn't take a ton of time.
- Managing activities - knowing the optimal mix of activities outside the home.
- How to keep your cool througout the day
- Delegation as a tool of learning
Come learn one of the most impactful skill sets you could ever learn for day-to-day success in training up your children at home!
For the past 17 years Arleen Morris has been the Administrator of Christian Heritage School, a homeschool support school headquartered in Corona where over 200 families are enrolled. She has two full-time and two part-time employees helping her keep those families organized and accountable. Before homeschooling, she was an administrative assistant... keeping her bosses organized.
Arleen homeschooled her own two children, with her daughter at home all the way from K-12, then going on to earn her BA at UCI. She recently schooled two grandsons at home for a year. She has been married to Jim for 38 years.
She has organized and managed CHEA Registration for about 15 years!
Childcare available:
To make it easier for families with little ones to attend, we have childcare.
Cost: $5 per child. If you have a big family, you only have to pay for the first
three children. Children who can sit quietly with their parents in the meeting won't
be charged - however, they must sit right next to you, and cannot run around the
meeting, in the halls or outside unsupervised. Note: babies under 12 months old
and children with colds must stay with their parents in the meeting.

5 pm to 6:30 pm
Enjoy snacks, fellowship, and an opportunity to meet veteran homeschoolers and other
families considering homeschooling after the informative presentation.
